Once your prospect is entered into our system, it takes as little as three minutes for them to sign up with Surround Insurance. Here are the steps that prospects experience once you add them as a prospect.
1. Prospect receives an email
After you’ve submitted a prospect, they receive an email to the address you entered. The prospect can either start the quote flow or set up an email.
Note: If the prospect doesn’t set up a password, they will need to do this after paying for their pack.
2. Prospect learns about the quote process
In order to reassure the prospect, we explain the pieces of information they will need to complete their quote. Here’s what they need:

A LinkedIn account or knowledge of how their freelance business is setup.
If prospect doesn’t use LinkedIn, they must have information about: their business name, any co-working spaces they may rent, business structure, approximate gross revenue, and if their business requires a license.* -
A driver’s license number.

A Social Security number.
* If prospect requires a license for their freelance work, Surround Insurance cannot cover them at this time.
3. Prospect enters their information
Prospect must:

Connect their LinkedIn to their Surround Insurance membership or fill out the professional form.

Add a valid driver’s license number.

Add their social security number.
-
Add a start date for their insurance.

Check the legal disclaimer that they understand we are running a credit report from a credit bureau and driving history from the Registry of Motor Vehicles.
4. Prospect double-checks their info
We gather all their info and present to them a page to confirm their data. At this time, they should also add their phone number. They may also add a preferred name and/or change their start date.
If any of the information doesn’t match, the prospect will receive an error message and they must call to complete their quote.
Preferred name: We allow prospects to provide a preferred name to personalize their experience. When you write or talk to a prospect or member online, please use their preferred name. We want to address our members by the name they identify with.
5. Prospect receives their pack
The prospect receives their Starter Pack of non-owned auto (driver’s insurance), renters insurance, and professional liability. They can also download a sample coverage packet. This Pack is not customizable at this time but we are planning more options in the near future.
6. Payment
Prospects can choose to pay for a monthly subscription or pay in full for a year and receive a 5% discount.
7. E-sign
Prospect signs a document with their full name and today’s date acknowledging:
- They are the person whose name they are typing.
- All of the information they have provided while buying insurance through Surround is accurate and complete.
- They are willing to receive all of their policy information electronically, including any disclosures required by law or regulation.
If a member does not e-sign their policy, we will send a reminder email and may cancel their policy.
7. Done!
The prospect receives a success message. If they have not set up a password, they must do that before entering the Member Portal.
